Graphic Design

I am currently studying Graphic Design, and these are some of the briefs I have done in my two years at College. Most of my work is done in illustrator as this is the software I am most comfortable with and which works best for vector illustrations. I don't always stick to one software and often mix them to achieve a final result that I am happy with.

Bookplates

For my last brief in College, I had to create my own brief and I decided to design four bookplate illustrations inspired by Luis Rheads' bookplates from the late 20th Century. I created the designs in Procreate and once finished I started to trace them onto the lino matts and proceeded to carve them with metal tools on various sizes to achieve the smallest details as best I could. Printed lino cuts were scanned and taken into Photoshop to play about with different overlay settings and to touch up a few of the details and the text.

Graded Unit Year 2 - Children's ABC Book

For my second year Graded Unit I chose a brief to illustrate a Children's ABC Book with a theme of my choice. I chose to do a Sea theme with some of my favourite sea creatures. All the illustrations were drawn on iPad using Procreate while the text was created in Adobe Illustrator for readability and a clean finish. I decided to not go overly 'childish' with the style but rather keep it textured but still slightly realistic, to achieve that balance between infants and older children so that the book could be 0-6 ages without any problems.

Book Jacket Redesign

Book Jacket Redesign of three random books in the style of Julian Montague. The approach was to make the designs a bit abstract and not too literal or complicated. Two of the books have illustrated barcodes inspired by Steve Simpson, I did this to bring some fun into the covers. All three covers were briefed to be as part of as set, so the layout and the style are continuous through all the books.

Organico Brand & Packaging

Organico brand and packaging design. In this brief I was tasked with designing a day-to-day product with full creative freedom with the exception of making the packaging as environmentally friendly as possible. I decided to design shampoo and conditioner packaging and created labels instead of full printed packaging so that it could be recycled a lot easier. The colours are different so the two can be distinguished easily and harmonising colours are used for each so that less ink would be used during printing.

Infographics

Infographics brief where I chose to design a dandelion diagram and an isometric split view along with a diagram for a katana.  A few versions had to be created so I chose to do an outline of each design. Gradient mesh was used on all rendered parts to create a realistic style.

Graded Unit Year 1 - Book Jacket Redesign

For my first Graded Unit I was briefed with redesigning the covers for popular classical books in a contemporary style. All graphics we drawn on iPad using Procreate and later taken into Adobe Illustrator for the barcode and information section at the back of the book. Three concepts were explored and this is the final one, I didn't want to scrap my previous concept completely so I decided to create bookmarks with the illustrations I drew that were initially supposed to be on the covers but didn't turn out looking the way I wanted them too. Along with the books I designed promotional posters and a hand embroidered tote bag.

Masala Brand Identity

Restaurant brief where I had to design a logo and a promotional poster. I used a tiger for the logo graphic as its India's national animal and kept the type simple to let the illustration be the focal point. Food illustration was initially drawn on Procreate but I decided to redo it in illustrator for scalability reasons.

Double Page Spread

Double Page spread brief where I was tasked with drawing an illustration and later scanning it into Adobe Photoshop where I touched it up a bit and completed it with some straws and text. I then took the completed illustration into Adobe InDesign to create various double page spreads.
